Thanks to Luc Dubois and his crew, Pierre-Yves Jorand and Yves Detrey, the national Swiss anthem was played this afternoon in the Marina Real Juan Carlos 1st, the port of the bases of the 2007 America%u2019s Cup, with a superb victory of the Swiss crew as a conclusion to the Trophée Clairefontaine de Valencia. A victory they snatched at the very end of the ninth and ultimate leg of this nineteenth edition of this major rendez-vous of international sailing champions in front of the recent French Olympic Bronze medallist Nicolas Charbonnier. The Frenchman Loïck Peyron, seven times winner of this competition organized as a nautical show, complete the podium. The Swiss have fought hard for this victory, with four out of nine legs won.
Until the start of the ninth and last leg, the ranking was still uncertain. When Nicolas Charbonnier started the last race in front, lots of spectators watching from the quay thought the young bronze medallist in 470 was going to win the Trophée Clairefontaine de Valencia which would have been an achievement as it is the very first time that he takes part to a competition on a catamaran. Loïck Peyron lost the Trophée Clairefontaine de Valencia by being boxed in on the last starting line. Despite his talent, he did not manage to come back with the leaders of the race, Jean-Pierre Dick, Luc Dubois and Ed Baird (Alinghi Black) fighting hard as if it was a naval battle
